Does anyone know what the ring that comes with the mains adapter is ment to do? Question It seems to be to stop you using full power but I don't see how it actually works, i.e. it doesn't actually do that. Confused

My japanese is non existant so I can't read the instructions. Sad

Thanks Smile

I'm not sure about it either. All it seems to do is allow easier fine adjustment of speed by enlarging the diameter of the speed control knob. I haven't found that it restricts the movement of it at all.

If my translation of the instructions is correct, it goes something like this:

"If desired, set the adjuster on the position right before the train sets into motion/starts running."

and

"Set the adjuster on the power box's speed controller"

So they seem to be saying that you set it to stop the knob being turned down beyond a point just below where the train starts to move.
This would be because the trains don't move until you have moved the knob some way above its minimum position and you could otherwise loose this point at which it does start to move.

Anyone understand the above? or is my babling as bad (or worse Shocked ) as the straight translation from Japanese gramar Rolling Eyes

T-gaugers,

I don't think it does anything. That's my two cents worth.

Okay, I tried it the way suggested earlier. Finding the point on the speed knob at which the train stops. And then adding the ring so that it stops the speed knob being moved further anti-clockwise. Which it only does if you turn the ring rather than the knob.

And it works. The trains started moving almost as soon as you turn the speed control clockwise. Also the head and tail lights didn't go off - just dimmed. Seems okay. My concern would be whether the voltage still on the rails could damage the motor when the train is not running. Probably not, but being so tiny, perhaps it could.

Any thoughts?
