Full article here.

Translated text for two captions:

Railex presented models in 1992 HZ = Semi-Z (1:440 with 3.25 mm gauge). However, only single-hand designs or prototypes are produced, such as Glass train of the DB in the famous light blue livery, a tram and a steam locomotive with 2 cars.

In the literature dive even the traces of TTT (half-TT) 1:240 / 6mm and M 1:300 / 5mm on. Both were being considered but only theoretically and never produced commercially.

Do any of you have any info on the Railex models and the TTT trains mentioned?

That's some interesting stuff. The train station I built is actually 1:440, as that size is an easy scale down from Z Scale, and not much re-drawing is needed.

I suspect the 1:440 Railex model was done the same way, with just a simple shrink of one of their Z Scale models.

I was looking at architectural model supplies yesterday, and seen people and cars available in 1:480 scale. I am thinking that anything from 1:440 through 1:480 might be useful, because once you get that small, it's very hard to see a difference.

Add 1:500 to the mix.

I have a hunch that architectural model items may not neccessarily be precicely scaled anyway, so items from larger and smaller scales may be close enough.

I have read bits and pieces about Railex before. I'd like to see more.

Yes, indeed. I've gotten some Herpa Wings items that blend in nicely.

I have photos of some of the Railex produced stuff (locos, Bavarian Royal Train) in Z scale on my website (see sig.). Their own site is at http://www.railex.de (in German) or http://66.163.168.225/babelfish/translate_url_content?lp=de_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.railex.de%2F&.intl=uk (in English translation).

Hope that helps.

Chris.

Would you have any info or photos regarding the 1:440 railcar?

I've had a fairly good look around the web but found virtually nothing. :o(

I do have some photos of 1:900 on my website but that is a different kettle of fish.

Best wishes,
Chris.

Thanks for that David.

I guess that with over 2600 links, a few errors will crop up. However, that one didn't get picked up 'cos it pointed to a real page.

Anyway, you will be able to access the page from the home page (see sig.) but I am reconfiguring the sub-z area in view of my receipt of ZZ and T scale models.

So, thank you for pointing out the problem. If you find any more, please let me know by PM.

Best wishes,
Chris.
