Working in 1:450 scale certainly gives you a new appreciation for what ship modellers do. My wife and I were up in Duluth, MN this weekend and with Duluth being a nautical city our hotel had several models of great lakes ore boats on display. I think they'd be about 1:350 scale. But even so, having fiddled about with small etched ladders and handrails myself. I really looked at these models in a new light.

Thanks Paul,
Any card model is available, all you have to do is reduce it down in scale. In the case of the WW2 RAN patrol boat (Fairmile B class ML) I'm 'tinkering' with I started with the original 250 scale kit reducing it to 450 scale (56%). This particular boat was 112' long, so at 450 scale she comes out at 76mm.
The one thing to remember when reducing card models down so far is that quite a number of the parts will be really quite small. Reducing ANY card model, whether it be ships, buildings or anything really can be done and it really doesn't matter what the original card model's scale is.
This is where I find card models have it over resin or plastic, it is VERY EASY to rescale them to ANY scale. _________________ Roger Pearson.

I reduced all my card buildings from HO to T-gauge. There was some quality lost but there was enough left to copy onto styrene. Once I hacve one done ill post up the pictures.
Roger, do you put people on your boats? _________________ Victorian T Gauge Blog

Hi Adrian,
Yes I most certainly do in the larger scales, well I will do so when I come close to actually finishing one. 450 scale I'm not so sure about, I'll have to wait and see the figures that are becoming available.
I would say the figures being larger than the weeny 600 scales, then it would be a quite real possibility. I'll bring my partially completed Fairmile Patrol Boat to Sandown on the Sunday, plus some of the buildings I've reduced, not made up though...........................yet. _________________ Roger Pearson.
