I know this is off-topic, but after reading the FAQ on the website, I still don' understand how to get a picture by your name! Can someone please help me out? thanks, _________________ D.J. (Now also Other David, since Mr. Smith was here first)

What you need to do is upload a picture to an image hosting site like imageshack, photobucket, or Picasa. They're all free. The picture should be small and square (about 80 x 80 pixels) to look best in the Forum.
Once you have an image hosted, you need to get the URL of the image. With the image displayed on your screen, right-click on it and select Properties. You will see the URL of the image there. (Example: my avatar is http://whiteriverandnorthern.net/images/old_man.gif)
Copy the whole URL and paste it into the space provided in the forum on your Profile page, at the very bottom.
You can use the same procedure to include images in posts, like this:
