T-gaugers,
We had a very successful show of both Z-scale and T-gauge layouts by the BAZ BoyZ (Bay Area Z-scale Cooperative) at the G.T.E. show in Pleasanton, CA. I tried to provide the spectators with information about where to purchase T-gauge starter kits with the four-car trains. There was actually quite a lot of interest, and surprise at the realitively low price.
I myself, am still amazed at how smooth the trains run, considering their small size. My two four-car trains ran continuously for about 12 hours during the two day show.
I spent most of my time on continuous "track cleaning". I use a small amount of electronic cleaner from Radio Shack, applied to a small piece chamois and wiped (or rubbed) on the track. It seems to work for me. I have never been fond of using abrasives on the rails. The way I see it, any time you "grind" metal you get "powder" (dirt).
I found the plastic "re-railer" supplied by Eishindo, Ltd. to be rather useless and more of a bother than it is worth. I have no trouble at all simply placing the cars squarely on the track, and easy to couple up.
The next showing of my 18" X 30" T-gauge layout is going to be at the G.T.E. show, Cal-Expo, Sacramento, Calif. 10 & 11 Jan 09.
