While most builders will be happy to create their own layout designs, I think there's a possible new idea to explore once trains, switches and other track items develop...miniature replicas of famous layouts (track geometry allowing).
You could do 1:12 scale replicas of "0" gauge layouts, 1:5 scale "HO" layouts and so on.
How about a 1:5 scale replica of the late John Allen's Gorre & Daphetid?

Of course John's famous floor-to-ceiling scenery loses some of its punch, since, well, there won't be a ceiling. You'd be observing it from above.
A little while back I came up with the idea for a static miniature replica of the G&D. Operating trains adds to the fun. Well I can dream.
Any other ideas? |
