I've been reading over all the material on this site and 1-450 and I think I'm smitten. Admittedly I do have a bit of confusion about purchasing a 'set'.
My first question is do the sets that I'm seeing advertised come with track etc? The trainboard forum seemed indicate that they did, but each of the different manufacturers websites don't give much detail.
Secondly, I've read how the manufacture has been making steady improvements to their product - as such, do you think it is advisable to purchase equipment from retailers an arms-length away from the source (plazzajapan) or direct from the manufacturer?
I'm eager to place an order, but would like to have a touch of clarification.
All the best. |

So far the trains have been one purchase, and the track a second. With the loops of track, you get the controller and detectors, however, which explains why the track set is the same price as a 4-car set. _________________ Mike Skibbe |

Thanks - admittedly, the price was confusing me. So I wonder if I simply buy to sets of power and handlay the track, or go for the oval with a single motive set... _________________ Michael

My recommendation is to get at least one complete set (trains plus track/throttle). You can then assess the train's performance; you'll get a throttle, which you'll need anyway; and have something to run while you're laying track, if you choose to. If you wind up with sectional track left over after a layout project, you can always sell it on eBay. _________________ —David

Just thought I'd give a quick mention that my order arrived today - in full.
I think it's worth mentioning that I'm very pleased with PlazaJapan of Ebay - my order arrived in 8 days from Japan. It was packed very well, and I thought the shipping cost was totally reasonable.
Very happy....

My set arrived today. It took 17 days to get here. So that just illustrates the vagaries of the Japanese mail system.
I'm more than a little happy with the merchandise as you can read in my blog
