Im sooooooo HAPPY!!!! Got my T gauge!!!!! As soon as I got it home I unpacked it and tested it. Runs really well. Ill be starting the layout as soon as possible. I purchased an aluminum case to present to layout in at future exhibitions. I will be posting pics and progress of my layout on the Vic T Gauge blog.
Has people experienced that one of the powered cars runs faster than the other?

Yes, T gauge stock is finally on sale in Australia. You would not believe the number of delays that had occurred for what I thought would be a simple transaction. Among other things, by the time I was able to put the funds aside to pay for the order, there was the problem of making payment. Credit card was out, but Eishindo accept PayPal. So, no worries. I'll use that. Oops! Not quite enough money on that account - I'll just transfer some money. Nope, can't do that instantly unless linked to a credit card (how clever is that?). So I decide to pay anyway and PayPal would just take the difference from my bank account. Wrong. They take the ENTIRE amount out of my bank account, ignoring what I already have in my PayPal account. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. And no, they don't do it straight away, but process it as an e-cheque. So that takes another week and a bit.

Finally the payment goes through and Eishindo can send the order EMS (Express). Should have it in 4 days. But that would be true if not for the fact that Christmas falls in those 4 days. A week later, a small part of my order arrives, with a letter informing me that the rest is held by customs awaiting my paperwork (proof of identity, commercial invoices, customs forms to fill in and so on. Get this done and email it straight away. Next day I get told the amount I need to pay to cover various taxes. Can't do that electronically (incredibly enough) so I send a money order. Of course this is Dec 31 and the post shuts for several days. So a week later, customs gets my payment and the order arrives the following morning - today. Sigh!

By the time these taxes and shipping costs are added on, it adds considerably to the overall cost - not helped by the improved exchange rate in the four weeks since I got my invoice from Eishindo.

But we're all happy here now. I just have to work out my exact costs and see if I need to adjust the prices accordingly.

The second order should be a bit smoother.

Out in the field today doing 'research' (playing with rail trolley - see pics on Fotopic site). After some more 'research' on Sunday I might have enough information and pictures of the area I want to model and get started early next week.
What would be a good material to use as a baseboard? Timber or foam?

Okay - thought I would just introduce myself, as here in UK I'm known for my small N gauge layouts and also being Chairman of the West Midlands N Gauge Club.

I've bought 2 T gauge layouts and will do the scenery in N gauge so that it will be a garden railway.

I've had great service from Plaza Japan, but some of the stuff like connetors are frail so my club electrian will solder some wires for me while I look for something unusual to build the layout in like a cutlery box.

Just finished a working N gauge layout in a video case. I've read some of the comments here and my two sets run at different speeds and in one set the power cars run at different speeds - buy hey that's what a garden railway is all about - probably

I have update the Vic T Gauge blog with pictures of the briefcase layout as it is today. The plyboard base is cut and fits just nicely. Check it out. Hopefully have more done in the coming days.
