Every so often I run a Google search for T Gauge, and today I found something quite, quite interesting. Several weeks ago an anonymous individual set up a new forum. Gee... do the section headers and descriptions look familiar?
http://www.t-scale.net/forum
Now, I don't mind a little competition. Competition is good. But clearly someone needs a dose of Originality. Anyway, it's awfully quiet over there, so I'm not all that concerned about losing "business" to someone else.
It does beg the question if someone got irked by something said here and went off in a huff to do their own thing out of spite... particularly since everything is done anonymously--not a name to be found anywhere on the site. Who is this mysterious T Gauger? Their Links page has only one link, as if nothing else exists. Or am I reading too much into this?
And there's a nagging little question at the back of my mind, too: strictly speaking, Talking T Gauge is no longer a "world exclusive." Do I bother changing the Forum description? Or should I just ignore the whole thing? _________________ —David

Change it to "the worlds foremost T gauge modelling forum"?

Reading the rival more closely. It looks to me like the webmasters first language is not English.

We've been cloned?
Maybe you can put an "Established" date on the page to show we were the first? _________________ Brian Austin |

I've just learned that there is a reason for this... the fellow is also apparently responsible for the Dutch site, http://www.t-spoor.nl/ as well as http://www.t3-gauge.com/ .
Looks like a case of someone with a good idea (clone an English forum in Dutch) that just never got off the ground (zero posts since it was created last November). Which still leaves the mystery of why make an English clone on top of it?
I'd be happy to link to the Dutch forum and send traffic his way (assuming there's more than one fellow in the Netherlands modeling in T). _________________ —David

I had thought earlier that using the word "only" was just inviting someone else to start another T-forum. _________________ Darren,

Guido, welcome! Sorry if my poking and prodding caused any problems!
If you like, why don't we join forces for the Forum aspect? I had been contemplating expanding Talking T Gauge into an international, multi-language Forum to provide a place for everyone. Does this sound interesting?
As for the commercial side of it, can you fill us in on what's happening? Were you planning on manufacturing, or just creating an online store? Or is it a big secret??
Thanks, and once again, welcome! _________________ —David
