Purely out of curiousity, will members be significantly cutting back on their model railway expenditure in the current depressing economic climate?

As for myself, I'm not currently modelling in T, but I will be cutting back my spending on Z scale gear.

Cutting back, yes; ending, no. I've started a concerted effort to thin out what I own, selling it at that auction site, and using the proceeds to keep buying more.

Actually without sounding too blase about it or even like I've got pots of money or won the lottery (which I haven't)
I don't think so T gauge stuff is so cheaply priced its not going to make a lot of difference to me.
When that Hankyu 9000 come out I'll have one. Same for level crossings or any other neat stuff that comes out.

I wont be cutting back at all. I will simply do a bit more research to find cheaper materials. Smile It just may take that little bit longer to save for railway items but waiting and dreaming is half the fun!! I have started to sell off items (old dusty models, old car mags and books etc) to help fund my modelling addiction as I now model two scales!!

Fortunantly I have work begging me to work rather than risks of loosing my job. I hope everyone is doing ok during these turbulant times.

I think our weather here in Victoria is more turbulent than the economy at the moment (drizzle yesterday, very cool this morning, and scorchin hot as I write this in the afternoon). Not that Australia's economy is as badly affected as many other countries seem to be. I do think T gauge will do well through this as it's quite affordable in comparison to other scales. Time will tell though. As I run a hobby shop, I should be one of the first to be affected. Crying or Very sad

As another who works in the hobby I wonder if people are cutting back on the expensive nights out, etc and staying in working on their hobbies because my sales this year are, so far, double last. I just hope it continues. Very Happy

Let's hope so. Then again, I'm also a projectionist at the local cinema. Another thing people tend to cut back on - especially with DVD releases following so closely from the cinema releases these days.

And I got a boost today too.

The BBC phoned me this afternoon and bought some of my trees for a TV show that was aired this evening.

I've said that if they return them I'll give them half the money back, because otherwise they just throw them out, and because of my arm surgery I'm getting low on stock.

Well, while I may not have a job, I don't think it will effect my "train"-ing much. Right now, at my current point of time, I have most of everything I need, I just need to use all of the materials I have gathered. Although, like trainspotter, I still will try to obtain any interesting items as they come out. Well, lets see, if my birthday is in October... ( walks away to make unlikely plan...)

...well, I'm not going to hold back more than normal. Honestly, the 9000 doesn't do THAT much for me... Sad
